1.New Revision of Locator/PC

Currently working on the next revision (1.2) of Optegra Locator/PC. In this project it is envisaged to support distributed vault and binders features of the server product, Optegra. Locator is a client product which accesses the product and process data management server product which runs on most of the UNIX environments and Windows NT and uses ORACLE 7 as the database. Optegra range of products are used by most of the aerospace and automobile companies around the world along with design softwares, usually CV's CADDS5.

Role: Designed and wrote specifications for binder features ,its implementation, and supervised documentation and on-line help creation.

Working Environment: MS Windows and Windows NT for client. Solaris on SPARC20 Sun Workstation for server.

Development Tools: Visual Basic 3.0, Sheridan Data and Design widgets, and other third party design widgets.

Duration: 6 months.

2.Development of Optegra Administrator 1.1

Optegra Administrator 1.1 is a new client product in compatible with the design of Locator/PC. This basically does the administrative related operations in Optegra from client terminal. ( For a description on Optegra server and Locator, see the last project). This was totally a new product development and had gone through all the stages till field release.

Role: Designed and wrote specifications for all the functionalities of product, did one-third of implementation,supervised documentation and on-line help creation, and led the team.

Working Environment: MS Windows and Windows NT for client. Solaris on SPARC20 Sun Workstation for server.

Development Tools: Visual Basic 3.0, Sheridan Data and Design widgets, and other third party design widgets.

Duration: 4 months.

3.Enhancement of EDM Client/PC

EDM Client/PC was the client product available for Optegra server product prior to Locator/PC.( For a description on Optegra server and Locator, see the first project). Modifications were done on the basis of a compilation of customer requirements.

Role: Implementation as per the design documents.

Working Environment: MS Windows and Windows NT for client. Solaris on SPARC20 Sun Workstation for server.

Development Tools: Visual Basic 3.0

Duration: 1 month.

4.Development of Hardware Inventory System

This had been developed to manage the hardware inventory of CV's Pune installation which has about 200 Sun workstations and 25 PCs. The system handles the details of configuration, location and allocation of all the machines.

Role: Designed the system, did the data modelling, and implemented.

Working Environment: Solaris on SPARC20 Sun Workstation, ORACLE7.

Development Tools: C, Forms 3.0 and Pro*C

Duration: 2 months.

5.Development of Bill-of-Material Module

This was one of the modules of CAFIMS which had been developed in IIT Bombay as a MRP-II package.In this project it was tried to translate a BOM structure into tabular form which will be subsequently used in MRP calculations.

Role: Designed the system, did the data modelling, implemented and led the team.

Working Environment: SCO UNIX on PC, ORACLE7.

Development Tools: CASE Tool Turbo Analyst, Forms 3.0, Menu 5.0 and Pro*C

Duration: 2 months.

6.Development of Materials Management module

This was one of the modules of CAFIMS which had been developed in IIT Bombay as a MRP-II package.This has subsystems like Requirement Planning, Purchase,Stores Management,Transportation,Material Auditing,Inventory Control, Material Finance, and Scrap Disposal.

Role: Designed the system, did the data modelling, implemented and led the team.

Working Environment: SCO UNIX on PC, ORACLE7.

Development Tools: CASE Tool Turbo Analyst, Forms 3.0, Menu 5.0 and Pro*C

Duration: 4 months.

7.Development of Sales and Order Processing system

This was one of the modules of CAFIMS which had been developed in IIT Bombay as a MRP-II package. This has subsystems like Enquiry processing, Despatch, Transportation, Invoicing, Excise, Export Management, Sales Analysis etc.

Role: Designed the system, did the data modelling, implemented and led the team.

Working Environment: SCO UNIX on PC, ORACLE7.

Development Tools: CASE Tool Turbo Analyst,Forms 3.0, Menu 5.0 and Pro*C

Duration: 4 months.

8.Development Transportation Module

The system was required to keep track of the movement of raw material in transit. The design was required to be in a fashion such that it could be integrated with an existing materials management system built on ORACLE6 tools.

Role: Designed the system, and did the data modelling.

9.Development of MRP based PPC system

This was essentially a single user DSS for production planning and control using MRP-II principles developed for M/S Godrej and Boyce Ltd.,Bombay. This project had been carried out as part of M.Tech.

Role: Designed the system, and implemented.

Working Environment: DOS on PC/AT

Development Tools: Turbo C and dBASE III

Duration: 6 months (part time)
